Summary of Position: This position is responsible for providing laboratory registration, preregistration, scheduling, requisition maintenance as well as reference laboratory billing. The position will assist in processing blood, cultures, and urine specimens, label samples, sort and set up batches of specimens, as well as perform send out operations. This position is responsible for the collection of blood samples for laboratory testing in hospital, emergency room, and outpatient settings. Requirements: Education, Training & Experience: High School graduate or equivalent. Six months phlebotomy experience or equivalent required. A Bachelors of Science in related field can be considered in lieu of patient care experience. Certifications / Licensure: Valid New York State driver's license required. Summary of Position: Performs phlebotomy techniques to obtain blood specimens on patients of all ages. Interprets and transcribes physician orders onto manual requisitions and into the computer Order Entry System. Performs all medically necessary activities required. Assists in lab functions as required for proper specimen accessioning. Assist in training new employees. Assist in clerical functions of department.
